What’s so magical about morning meditation? Today I only meditate in the morning.

I first tried meditation over ten years ago, at the age of sixteen. I had an audio recording of guided meditation. At the time, I didn’t understand how I could lie relaxed and do nothing for thirty minutes. And not even fall asleep while doing it. I was curious to try it.

I came back from class faster than usual. It was noon, and I was home alone. After listening to the tips from the tape, I began to get ready. I put on comfortable clothes and lay down on the carpet. I put on my headphones and started meditating.

I was immersed in another world, a world within me.

It was a body-scanning meditation. I didn’t understand it at the time. I didn’t even know if I liked it or not. But my interest in meditation became even more powerful. That day I began my journey in meditation.

How I came to a regular meditation practice

If you meditate, you’ve noticed that it’s not easy to do meditation regularly. There’s never an extra ten minutes because you always have more important things to do.

  • Yesterday was a lot of work. Tomorrow I need to spend time with my family. And today I’m tired, so I’ll skip it this time.

In all those years, I never left meditation. But I did not have such a long period of regular practice. Life’s constant circumstances forced me to postpone meditation every time. But I never stopped looking for the right time that suited me.

One day I asked myself: “Why do I want to meditate?”

  • It’s trendy. I would like to have better control over my emotions. Someone said that the third eye opens from meditation.

I didn’t have a definite answer. It seemed that I was doing meditation because someone told me it was necessary. Since I did not understand why I had to meditate, I would not do it regularly. In time, I found the answer to my question.

  • I don’t meditate because someone told me to. I meditate because it’s what I want. I want to practice meditation regularly. And all the benefits of meditation will be a bonus for me.

Finding the perfect time for regular practice

In my search for the ideal time, I tried different times of the day to meditate. Each time the previous attempt proved unsuccessful, I set a new time for a month.

I tried to meditate during my lunch break

I thought it would help me relax between workdays. But again and again, there were significant reasons why I had to skip meditation. The timing was not right.

Meditating after work seemed like a great idea

Meditate when you come home and need to switch from work to home. I still like to relax that way after a day at work. However, one problem has arisen. I’m not the only one who comes home.

  • No one wants to sit in silence for fifteen minutes because someone in the next room falls into this zen state. It didn’t work after work either.

The best time is before bedtime

Everyone goes to bed, so no one else is noisy. Work will not disturb you. It would be helpful to relax before going to bed. It’s a feeling of relaxation and serenity.

  • But workdays were often difficult. I often fell asleep during meditation. At such times, there was little left of awareness.

So why is it morning now?

Nothing is surprising here. I wake up in the morning, drink my coffee, and go to the shower. My mind is awake enough, but I am not yet aware that the day has already begun. With that, I start my morning meditation.

I know I won’t fall asleep because the day hasn’t tired me out yet. No one will disturb me because everyone is either still asleep or already gone. I know for a fact that work won’t bother me. I can meditate because work time won’t start until a few hours later.

What I got in the end

A morning Mindfulness Meditation session is excellent for the whole day. I get energized and relaxed before work. I am in a better mood every morning now. The first part of my workday is now more productive.

Isn’t that enough to make you want to meditate in the morning?
