Nowadays, everyone is already well aware of the harmful effects of alcohol. But have you never had situations where you have to drink? Social norms, environment, stress, or simply for fun?

Drinking alcohol is a bad habit. Still, do you agree that sometimes you have to drink it? Here are some simple ways to protect yourself from the adverse effects of alcohol consumption.

Drink less

The first tip is from the obvious category. You can reduce the harm from alcohol consumption by lowering the dose. If you drink one instead of two glasses of beer, the damage to the body will be half as much — simple arithmetic.

Drink expensive alcohol

In theory, more expensive drinks use higher quality raw materials, which, in theory, will reduce harm to your body. Cheaper drinks have additives used to improve flavor, but they put extra strain on the liver.

And here’s the thing for sure: drinking more expensive alcohol, you will think about the harm to your wallet — and heed the previous advice.

Be careful with food

Do not drink on an empty stomach.

But it’s also unnecessary to accompany alcohol consumption with abundant fatty foods. The effect of alcohol on the body doesn’t decrease; you’ve only delayed it. The accumulation of alcohol in the gastrointestinal tract doesn’t cause rapid intoxication. You don’t notice how you exceed your drinking rate.

Alcohol forces the liver to perform a complex, multi-stage process complicated by food, creating extra stress. The formation of biogenic amines and benzene derivatives, due to a large amount of the animal supplied, is causing new tests. As a result, food is poorly absorbed, and the organ’s ability to process alcohol is lower.

Turn off autopilot

It’s helpful in life to move from automatic actions to conscious decisions. Here are a few tricks to turn off your autopilot to drinking:

  • Delay ordering a drink (or refilling a glass) for 10 minutes. Also, watch yourself. Make sure that you consciously want it.
  • Look for ways to get around your usual behavior. For example, if you’re used to going to a bar on Friday nights, try scheduling and paying for an enjoyable non-alcoholic activity.
  • Limit yourself in the store. It’s easier not to buy than to buy and resist temptation.
  • Enjoy your drink. Tune in to your drink experience.
  • Trade quantity for quality. You’ll drink less, but once you do, choose something better for yourself.

Do not drink

The surest way to avoid the harm from alcohol is to stop drinking it. Only this will give a guarantee. And then not one hundred percent, if you are in a company that consumes alcohol (remember about accidents!). However, the socializing factor of alcohol often does not allow you to abandon it altogether.

Enjoy life

Try not to focus on alcohol as your only source of fun. Take a look at the people surrounding you. Think about the good things going on in your life. Think about the celebration about which is the party.

But if you choose to drink, enjoy it. Don’t blame yourself for allowing yourself to drink. Take your time. If you are already drinking — have fun consciously.
